Synopsis
What if a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ could happen twice?
Suffering from a past full of tragedy, Dahlia London's soul has
been left completely shattered. Happily ever after is a far cry from reality in
her world. But, when she is reconnected with her past, the bonds that form are
irrefutable.
When River Wilde, lead singer of The Wilde Ones, comes back into
Dahlia’s life, the intensity that fires their relationship combined with
underlying feelings that have never died lead her to believe she has met her
soulmate.
Struggling with confusion as old connections fade and new ones
begin, Dahlia's grief begins to lift--but guilt remains. River wants to be the
one to mend all that is torn within her.
But with a past that is never really gone, can their future
survive?

Excerpt
Laughing as I turn the music up, I answer, “In a bed.”
She pouts her lips and reaches her long slender arm to turn the
volume back down. “In a bed—where?
I love when she pouts her lips like that. She looks so hot.
Using the word she always uses on me, I say, “Yesss...”
“Where are we going?” she huffs out.
I have to laugh because I think she might be having a fit in the
seat of my car. “You’re not going to stomp your feet and cross your arms, are
you? Because if you are, I’m going to have to pull over to watch this.”
She sticks her tongue out at me, and I try to grab it, but she
moves away to quickly.
I turn the music back up and sing along, waiting for her next
question, but she’s good at playing any game I throw her way. She doesn’t say
anything as she shifts in her seat and hikes her dress up just a little higher.
I give her a quick glance and look back at the road. I can play too. She
stretches and her top slips down slightly. Damn she’s good. I keep singing and humming,
thumping my fingers to the beat on the steering wheel, trying to ignore her
provocative moves.
Then she breaks and starts to speak.
I grin over at her.
“So are you going to tell me where we’re going?” she asks again.
“Nope.”
“Well, that’s too bad because I have a secret I want to share.
And I was thinking a trade was in order. You know one for one,” she says,
twisting a little, leaning her elbow on the console, and placing her chin in
the palm of her hand.
Review
Ever since I saw the synopsis of Connected the word that drew me
in was about soulmates it tied me on a tight leash and I needed
to read it, lucky for me I was able to participate in Connected blog tour and
get an ARC of Connected, started it as soon as I can.
The story of Connected starts with Dahlia and her boyfriend Ben,
they have practically been together for awhile and in love. Dahlia has
experienced loss first hand with her parents, losing them killed her and always
tears her apart, music and her dad will always be tied together, so when she
meets River for the first time his song that his band was playing reminds her
of her dad, her heart aches and she tried composing herself.
When she first meets River the sudden attraction is hot and
fierce as ever, she feels connected in away she can’t describe so she tries to
shake it off remind her she is with her boyfriend, the boy who she loves very
much. They have moment that she knows his very dangerous and when he tell her
to stay back after his performance he leaves to go on stage and she battles
with her emotions and leaves without looking back, fate seems to have another
idea and they meet again.
After that one night, she is with Ben happy with him and loves
him a lot, they get engaged after a bit and than she loser her fiancé by this guy
who makes them pull over and she stays in the car, Ben pleads her not to go out
and leaves her scared out of her mind. She hear gun shots and than silence,
while in the car she calls the cops but it is too late, she is left alone
again.
She grieves for 2 years until she decides she can’t live like
this and needs to get going on in her life, its hard but with the help with her
best friend, she tries, her friend emotionally blackmails her into a job where
it leads her directly to River, she knows its him, she can’t ever forget him,
she tries to battle her feelings of that night, that connection she can’t
explain. She thinks he might have already forgotten her.
They meet the connection is strong as ever and the attraction
too.
River helps Dahlia heal, he makes her strong again, makes her
happy. Ben’s ghost is always there, making it hard for River to replace and as
they are together, their connection strengthens, they fall deeply in love,
Dahlia has a lot of past demons but she is healing.
I really liked Connected, enjoyed the read and with the way Kim
Karr had ending Connected I can’t wait for Torn, I sort of predicted it but now
I am left hanging as to what will happen. Will Dahlia and River survive this
new bomb that will drop. We will see in Torn. I have always had a soft spots
for soulmates because I believe in them, so this book will be one of my
favourites and I just can't wait for Torn, more River and Dahlia.
My verdict? 4 brilliant steamy River
